Thanks Jorge. It was a great day on the hill that day. There was a ton of us out there that day and we were all waiting for QF bringing in the A380. It was one of the first days they brought 2 in but teased us by bring them in to the North. Can't beat those crisp winter days after a storm clears out!

Well I have to say this is a very rare sight at LAX -- Quit a site to see the departure.

Jorge,

Was the An-124 loud low and slow on the departure?

On the above picture, it appears to be fairly light but without any climb performance (looks like an early rotation but no pitch). Either way, it must've been cool seeing this bird in action at LAX.
If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough!!

Great job Jim. This one seemed to carry a satellite made by Boeing away from SoCal. She was supposed to go to Goose Bay, but diverted to Gander. Here are the details:

As I write this, she is 2 hours into a 3.5 hour flight to Keflavik Nas Iceland, and then on to Russia.

As indicated by Tim the flight was light as she was carying a satellite. During the climb out all I could think of was thanks for the very low and slow departure -- a perfect photo oportunity.

I was also very suprised she was not as loud as expected maybe because she took off from runway 25R.

Nice shot.

I was on the ground and was hoping for a quick and high rotation, but as you saw it took its time getting off the ground. Oh well. Here's my contribution.

In the dark

Jorge and I were at In-and-Out burger tonight, and I tried something new. Since getting the 85 1.2 lens, I have not stressed tested it...tonight I started to. This Thai 345 was shot in the natural lighting at f1.2, ISO 1600...thoughts are welcome
